Island gymnasts place well in Sandcastle Meet

The Island Gymnastics Training School hosted the 18th annual Sandcastle Meet on Saturday, November 14. The Island girls came within .08 points of taking the first place trophy against teams from New England Sports Academy and In Flight Training Gymnastics Center. Island Gymnastics athletes took second place with a total score of 101.3. NESA won first with a score of 102, In Flight finished third with 96.5 points.

The Vineyarders placed as follows:

Intermediate Division, Caroline Woodward: 2nd vault 8.5; 3rd beam 7.5; 3rd overall;

Novice Division: Sophie Devanski: 3rd vault 8.35; 2nd beam 8.5; overall 3rd place; Isis Burt: 1st vault 8.5; 1st beam 8.75; 2nd floor 8.2; 2nd place overall; Rosie Herman: 2nd vault 8.45; 3rd beam 8.0; 1st bars 9.1;1st floor 8.8; overall 1st place;

Rookie Division: Olivia Schneider: 3rd bars 8.35; 1st beam 7.8; 4th overall; Kasey Varkonda: 3rd vault 8.0; 1st bars 8.9; 3rd beam 7.6; overall 3rd place;

Rookie Jr. Division: Isabelle Murphy: 1st vault 8.61st bars 8.65; beam 8.0; overall 1st;

Rookie Child Division: Kaleigh Bolin: 2nd vault 7.6; 2nd beam 7.5; tied 3rd floor; overall 2nd; Alexa Schneider: 3rd floor 7.4; 1st bars 6.5; overall 4th; Nellie Long: 3rd bars 6.15; overall 6th; Hannah Tate-Arona; 1st beam 7.6; 3rd floor 6.5; overall 3rd place; Josie Merry: 2nd bars 6.125; 3rd beam 7.4; overall 5th.
