A youth group for all comers

To the Editor:

In The Times’s January 13 issue of The High School View, Kristen Parece wrote a wonderful article titled “Youth Group makes global impact.” I applaud her for writing it, and The Times for running it. We appreciate the great publicity.

Although Kristen writes about our Martha’s Vineyard Ecumenical Youth Group as reaching out to all young people on the Vineyard, the article only mentions the Federated Church, with Melissa Pitt and Jerry Fritz as leaders. The group reaches out far beyond Federated Church, Melissa, and me.

Also involved in the Martha’s Vineyard Ecumenical Youth Group are young people and leaders from First Congregational Church in West Tisbury, Grace Episcopal Church in Vineyard Haven, St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Edgartown, and Martha’s Vineyard United Methodist Parish in Oak Bluffs, Tisbury, and Edgartown. Also, many of our young people have no church affiliation, and that’s okay, too.

This is a fantastic group of young people and leaders. We hope that other youth, churches, and leaders will join us Sunday afternoons, from 4 to 6, in the Parish House at 45 South Summer Street in Edgartown.
