The Bulls put a stop to their four-game losing streak and beat the Lakers 91-85 Monday night at the Martha’s Vineyard Boys and Girls Club. The victory earned the Bulls the top seed in the playoffs, which begin Monday night.
The Lakers didn’t make it easy for the Bulls. They reeled off impressive runs late in each half. They led by ten in the first half and cut a 15-point Bulls lead to four in the final minute of the game.
Asil Cash led the Bulls and all scorers with 40 points. Brant Silvia had 18, and Damon Mello added 12.
Jay O’ Donnell (25 points), Heath Estrella (24), and Jared Silvia (18) were the high scorers for the Lakers.
Heat beat Suns
In the night’s first contest, the surging Heat won their fourth straight and beat the Suns 95-78.
Clark Agnew had another fine two-way game and led the Heat with 25 points. Tim Scott added 23, including five three-pointers. Lucas Brewer had 19 points and Jason Dyer scored 18.
Adam Rebello (26 points), Sterling Bishop (16 points), Luke Bettencourt (13), and James Holenko (12) all shot in double figures for the Suns.
The best-of-three semi-finals start at 6:15 pm Monday. The Bulls (8-4) take on the fourth-seeded Suns (4-8). The second-seeded Heat (7-5) play the third-seeded Lakers (5-7) at 8pm. Both games wil be played at the M.V. Boys and Girls Club in Edgartown.
