To the Editor:
Once again I am overwhelmed and humbled by the acts of kindness that recently occurred. The Tisbury School organizes an annual “Have a Heart and donate your hair,” as our random act of kindness theme for the month of February. We have done this five years in a row and hope to make this an annual event with an increased number of donors.
Each year we have had at least 10 students and parents donate their hair to the Locks of Love Foundation, an organization that collects hair to make wigs for children who have lost their hair due to illness. We chose this foundation because our small community is so greatly affected by cancer and, as teachers, we wanted to do something that went directly to the children.
This year we would like to thank Maggie’s Salon and the wonderful hairdressers who gave their time to give the haircuts free of charge. Each and every stylist made the donors feel so special and look beautiful. We would also like to thank Jynell Kristal for donating gifts for the hairdressers. Most importantly, we would like to thank Karen Casper, Alice Robinson, Alicia Barnes, Mia Jeffers, Sydney Rydewski, Victoria Miranda, Jade Correll, and Jesse Casseau for their generosity and kindness. Their donation will help make a difference.
