To the Editor:
Our founding fathers would be rolling in their graves if they were here to witness the blatant power grab of the corporate dictators. The rich stay rich and everyone else be damned. The behind the scenes takeover by the rich and powerful is nothing new and has been in place probably forever in this country. But what is particularly disturbing now is how wildly distorted the truth is manipulated at the expense of the “great unwashed,” which is all of us.
The newly elected governor of Wisconsin, Scott Walker, is a mere marionette of Karl Rove and his rich cronies. The Tea Party with their angry shouts of simplistic platitudes have no idea how they are being manipulated by the very rich and powerful. The ads that blanket the airways sponsored by the corporate elite blatantly lie and, as witnessed in Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio and other states, are poisoning the well about the unions.
Which by the way is the only vehicle left to fight the big money from the far right.
As Michael Moore said the other night, “When 100 people in this country have more money then the entire rest of the population combined, we are in BIG trouble!”
We have become a “banana republic” ripe for revolution. Unlike the rest of us, there are no consequences for the powerful and greedy elite. The corporate cronies, including of course the fossil fuel boys, are counting on our indifference while they systematically unravel the principles that this country was founded on.
The time to act is now. Unplug and get off the couch. Let your voices be heard, that is all we have left.
