School volleyball season moves into high gear

Oak Bluffs and Tisbury proved to be well-matched, Tuesday, in the Tiger cage. Tisbury took the opener, 25-15. Tiger lady Megan Bischoff served up eight straight points early in the contest and Ethan Lefebvre finished with the final six. Oak Bluffs returned the compliment in the second game, 25-13. OB had its way in the third game, the closest to a runaway, 25-12.

Tisbury responded with a match-tying 25-17 win, sending the teams into a final fifth game, a 15-point tie-breaker won by the Tigers, 15-13. Ben Davey was quietly effective from the service line in the late action.

At West Tisbury the unbeaten Hawks flew higher than the Edgartown Eagles, just barely. West Tisbury had to come from two games down to pull off the trick.

Edgartown went two games up, winning the first game in OT, 26-24, then running away with the second, 25-12.

West Tisbury began its comeback in game 3, 25-21 and knotted the match in game 4, 25-15. The fifth and deciding game went the Hawks’ way, 15-10.

The final, pre-playoff scheduled games are today, Thursday. Oak Bluffs at Edgartown and West Tisbury at Vineyard Haven.
