The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School girls’ tennis team improved to 7-1 on the season with a 5-0 shutout over Chatham, Monday in Oak Bluffs.
Anne Burton bested Julia Fisher 6-1, 6-1 in the first singles match. Dylan Brockmeyer put up double bagels, 6-0, 6-0, over Claire McGurk in the second singles match. Alyssa Adler completed the MV singles sweep with a 6-0, 6-1 3rd singles win over Alyssa Schultz.
The Blue Devils fared little better in doubles action. Vineyarders Julia Cooper and Annabelle Hackney won their first doubles match, defeating Christine Macomber and Maggie McCormack 6-0, 6-1. In second doubles, Cami Fernandez and Michaella Gaines downed Taylor Fry and Sidney Whitcomb 6-3, 6-2.
The Vineyarders return to the MVRHS courts Thursday afternoon at 3 pm to take on Eastern Athletic Conference rivals Coyle and Cassidy of Taunton.
