Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules (PG)

This time Greg (Zachary Gordon) and Rowley (Robert Capron) are hopeful but tormented seventh graders. Gregg remains the daily victim of his rocker brother, Rodrick (Devon Bostick). Grayson Russell is a scene-stealer as the nerdy Fregley. With Steve Zahn and Rachael Harris. All that’s missing is the warmth.

The metal crunching fifth in the “The Fast and the Furious” series is set in Rio de Janeiro and includes a jail break, turbo-charged car crashes, rocket-propelled grenades, a $100 million bank heist, slam-bam car thefts, drug trafficking, and the FBI in hot pursuit. With Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Vin Diesel, Joaquim de Almeida, and Dwayne Johnson.

Hanna (PG-13)

A sort of fairy tale spy thriller about a teenage assassin (Saoirse Ronan) trained to kill by her rogue CIA agent father (Eric Bana). Having to pay for her father’s sins, she escapes from an American military squad, and travels the world experiencing ordinary things for the first time. Cate Blanchett as the evil CIA agent making Hanna her target.

Hop (PG)

E.B. (Russell Brand) is a reluctant rabbit who runs away to avoid becoming the next Easter Bunny and winds up in L.A., where he invades the life of slacker Fred (James Marsden). It’s blah, blah, blah all the way home.

Jane Eyre (PG-13)

Charlotte Brontë’s classic novel about the romance between Jane (Mia Wasikowska) and Rochester (Michael Fassbender) takes on a gothic feel as flashbacks reveal Jane’s difficult past. With Judi Dench, Jamie Bell, and Sally Hawkins.

The Lincoln Lawyer (R)

Matthew McConaughey is the charismatic Mick, a flash and dash unconventional L.A. defense attorney with an eccentric client list and an office in the backseat of his Lincoln. He defends the well-connected Louis (Ryan Phillippe), who is charged with a murder he may or may not have committed. With William H. Macy, Marisa Tomei, and Bryan Cranston.

Rio (G)

Animated adventure comedy. Blu (Jesse Eisenberg) is a domesticated pet macaw, who thinks he’s the last of his species, who winds up in Rio during Carnival dodging birdnappers while trying to mate with the chirpy but aloof Jewel (Anne Hathaway). Voices by George Lopez, Jamie Foxx, and Tracy Morgan.

Thor (PG-13)

As astrophysicist Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) investigates an atmospheric disturbance, she winds up summoning the exiled Norse warrior god Thor (Chris Hemsworth) to New Mexico. Romance ensues, interrupted by a full complement of good and bad guys and mythical monsters. With Anthony Hopkins, directed by Kenneth Branagh.
