Charles Simberg, 73, of Scottsdale, Ariz., died on Thursday, June 23, at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix. He was born in Boston, Mass., and devoted his career to the business of real estate in New Jersey. He and his wife, Rowena, retired to Scottsdale in 1997, where they were active in the arts community. Charles and Rowena enjoyed collecting pop art. Charles was one of the original members of the Mayo Clinic Arizona Leadership Council, joining in 2004. Charles and Rowena will be remembered for their great respect for the nursing staff at Mayo Clinic.
A long-time home owner in Hidden Cove, Oak Bluffs, he was at one time a board member at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rowena; three sons, Joel and Steve of Chicago and Michael of New York; three grandchildren, Brandon, Jordan and Zachary; and a sister, Irma Turtle, of Cave Creek, Ariz.
A celebration of the life of Charles Simberg will be held at a later date. Memorial gifts may be sent to the Mayo Clinic in Arizona or to Dana-Farber Cancer Center in Boston.
