With what is perhaps the biggest Island holiday weekend approaching, Times reporter Mark Kotsopoulos went to find out what some Islanders and visitors are planning to do for Independence Day, July 4. Scheduled events for the Fourth include a BBQ on the lawn at the Dr. Daniel Fisher House in Edgartown from 4 to 8 pm, the annual Edgartown Parade at 5 pm, and fireworks at dark, over Edgartown Harbor.
Here’s what some are planning:
Ben Zack, of Dix Hills, N.Y.
“Partying at the Sharks game.”
Steve and Thalia Pitti, of New Haven, Conn.
“Going to the beach.”
Jess Dupon, of Oak Bluffs
“Working at the Blue Canoe, come in for dinner.”
Pat Johnson, of Edgartown
“I’m going to the Fourth of July parade.”
Jeff Pratt, of Vineyard Haven
“I will be working and attending the Fourth of July parade and fireworks.”
Oliver Lively, of Edgartown
“Fireworks!”
Shawn Hegarty, of Edgartown
“Our family normally has a big dinner, then we watch the fireworks together.”
