Oak Bluffs police arrested seven people, took four people into protective custody and responded to 115 calls over the weekend of July 22, according to an account of the police log.
Police arrested several drivers over the weekend for operating under the influence of alcohol (OUI).
Friday night, police responded to Soft As a Grape on Circuit Avenue for a report of a shoplifter. Police arrested Richard Abrazinski 49, of Edgartown, for stealing a shirt, according to Lieutenant Tim Williamson.
Saturday night, police responded to the Steamship Authority for a report “of a male passed out on a bench.” Police arrested Robert G. DaCosta 33, of Centerville, on a warrant for OUI out of Lawrence, according to the police log.
Just after 7 pm, Saturday night officers arrested Vincent J. Milano 24, of Westwood for disorderly conduct. “Milano called an officer a derogatory name and spit on his face from a moving taxi while the officer was directing traffic along Lake Avenue for a medical emergency,” according to the log.
Just after midnight Saturday, police chased after two men who fled from a moped stop. The foot pursuit resulted in the arrest of Matthew B. Murphy 27, of Wakefield and Kevin R, Sturtvant 34, of Plymouth. Mr. Police arrested Mr. Murphy on charges of OUI/Liquor and larceny over $250 for stealing the moped. Police also arrested Mr. Sturtvant for larceny over $250 and disorderly conduct.
