Shaw Cramer Gallery in Vineyard Haven presents two Spotlight Shows: From August 25 to September 5, the woodcut art of Ruth Kirchmeier will be featured; from August 29 to September 6, paintings by Chilmark artist Wendy Weldon will be on display.

Ruth Kirchmeier’s wood blocks are hand-carved, each painting using up to seven layers of block prints.

Wendy Weldon, known for her multi-layered acrylic paintings of barns and stone walls, is presenting a new collection of her bird paintings. Her personal color and composition style translates well to the smaller scale paintings, some with gold leaf embellishments.

This week, two Artist Talks are scheduled on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at 6 pm when Ms. Kirchmeier will explain the intricacies of woodcut carving, painting and printing. On Thursday, Sept. 1, at 6 pm, Ms. Weldon will discuss her new techniques in painting.
