Going visiting

Be prepared to travel around the Island this Saturday, knowing that everywhere you stop will be well worth the ride. Saturday, Sept. 10, is the Artist Studio Tour. Participants will be welcome at the studios of artists Deborah Colter, Stefanie Danforth, Jeri Dantzig, Traeger diPietro, Ann Grandin, Washington Ledesma, Richard Lee, Steve Lohman, Julia Mitchell, Alison Shaw, Lucinda Sheldon, Jenifer Strachan, Jeanne Staples, Wendy Weldon, and Barney Zeitz.

It’s the grand slam of art tours that begins at 10 am with a stop at Featherstone Center for the Arts where maps and gift bags will be distributed, and ends with a reception from 4:30 to 6:30 pm at the Vineyard Haven home of the wonderful art connoiseur, Olga Hirshhorn.

Spotlight on Traeger

Island artist Traeger diPietro has been exhibiting his paintings at Dragonfly Fine Arts since he was 24, 10 years ago. He produces impressionistic landscapes and people.

Mr. diPietro is currently the featured artist in a show at Dragonfly that runs through Monday, Sept. 12. You can meet the artist at the opening reception on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.

Sit for a spell

The Martha’s Vineyard Museum (MVM) invites you to welcome the fall season by joining about a dozen Vineyard artists for a dinner and fascinating conversation. The MVM’s fourth annual “you can’t spell mARTha’s vineyard without A-R-T” party will be Saturday, Sept. 17, at 6 pm at Shephard Fine ArtSpace.

It is an expansive space to display the wide variety of art by Traeger diPietro, Paul Karasik, Meg Mercier, Lucy Mitchell, Andrew Moore, Alison Shaw, Kara Taylor, Kenneth Vincent, David Wallis, Allen Whiting, Rez Williams, and Marsha Winsryg.

MV Museum Executive Director David Nathans calls the evening, “A unique opportunity for art lovers to gain special insight into the creative mind of not just one but a dozen artists.”
