The Vineyard boys varsity soccer team entertained the Chicopee Pacers, Saturday, at Dan McCarthy Field.
The match was scoreless at halftime, but the visitors from Western Mass. wasted no time after the break, scoring the winning goal a mere ten seconds into the second half, straight from the kick-off.
The Vineyarders responded with 15 minutes of consistent pressure in the Chicopee end, but could not find the net. The Pacers were the stronger side for the rest of the half, repeatedly testing Vineyard keeper Rafa Maciel, who was up to the task and kept the game close.
The Vineyarders fell to 3-4-1 overall, but are still unbeaten in the Eastern Athletic Conference at 2-0-1, heading into today’s clash in Oak Bluffs with EAC rival Coyle and Cassidy. Match time is 3 pm.
