Henrietta “Penny” Singleton Norris of Oak Bluffs died peacefully on November 6, 2011. She joins her loving husband of 56 years, Fleming “Buddy” Norris III, her brothers, Clyde Millard and John Andrew Singleton, and her parents, Daisy and John Andrew Singleton. She was 85.

Penny is survived by her son and daughter-in law M. Hatcher “Reese” and Kathy Norris of Glastonbury, Conn., daughter Pamela S. Norris of Oak Bluffs, grandchildren Marc, Stacy, Brett, Mary, and Morgan, great-granddaughter Aurora, many cherished nieces and nephews, and extended family members.

Penny is fondly remembered as a devoted wife, mother, educator, entrepreneur, artist, author, and a friend to many. Her hospitality and the graciousness shown in her home and on her porch are legendary.

A memorial service will be held to honor Penny’s life next summer at the Trinity United Methodist Church located in the Oak Bluffs Campground on Friday, July 6, 2012, from 10 to 11 am.
