This past Sunday, Dec. 11, RISE Vineyard Performing Arts gave two fabulous performances at the Oak Bluffs School. Dancers from toddlers to teenagers, in addition to the staff, took the stage in a variety of dances and music for their Season’s Greetings II show.
A crowd favorite was “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers,” where, dressed in blue and white, older students did flips, walkovers, back handsprings, ariels (no-handed cartwheels), and handstands across the stage.
The youngest of the dancers moved to “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Feliz Navidad,” while two professional dancers from Elite Dance, Nicholas Silverio and Erin Stomski, did “New Year’s Wish” and the Spanish Dance from “The Nutcracker,” respectively.
For the second to last song, staffers Jil Matrisciano (director), Claire Baione, Stefanie Hecht, Daryl Owens, Maggie Sarmiento and Jesse Keller morphed into old ladies and danced to Madonna’s “Santa Baby.”
