The 2012 Arts Festival continues this Sunday, March 4, from 4 to 5:30 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center in Vineyard Haven, with a program entitled “Dance: What’s Written Within,”.
The Island Dancers Improvisational Dance Company, facilitated by Sandy Broyard, will perform dance pieces choreographed by Sally Cohn, Elizabeth Kurylo, Jesse Keller, and Ms. Broyard.
There will also be a slideshow of dance photographs by photographer Sally Cohn and drawings by artist Elizabeth Langer.
The dance company is made up of women from different dance and art backgrounds who have been working together twice weekly for three years. The company performed this summer at The Yard and at Sally Cohn’s Edgartown studio.
Members of the group include Kathy Joyce Costanza of Vineyard Dance, Ms. Broyard, Ms. Cohn, Ms. Keller (education director of The Yard), Harriet Bernstein, Sandra Demel, Gail Tipton, Elizabeth Kurylo, Carol Loud, Margaret Knight, Suzanna Nickerson, Genevieve Abbot, and Wendy Brophy.
The festival continues on April 15 with a piano concert by Adam Lipsky, who will perform selections from his new CD. On April 22, there will be a play reading of Wendy Wasserstein’s “The Sisters Rosensweig,” directed by Leslie J. Stark. Ms. Cohn was happy to announce that the festival recently received funding from the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
