The Oak Bluffs branch office of the Martha’s Vineyard Savings Bank on Uncas Avenue was temporarily closed on Friday after a panel truck struck a pillar that held up the drive-through window canopy.

Oak Bluffs Police lieutenant Tim Williamson said the driver of the box truck attempted to drive around the window canopy and caught the corner, damaging one of the support pillars. There were no injuries.

Bank officials decided the safest course was to remove the canopy. Workers spent the afternoon cleaning up the damage and patching up the exterior.

The branch office opened the next day.
