Martha’s Vineyard community notes


Environmental awardCaleb Slater has received the Richard A. Waite Award for outstanding environmental service from the Westfield River Watershed Association (WRWA).

Mr. Slater collaborated with the WRWA on annual Atlantic salmon restoration efforts in the Westfield River watershed and beyond. He has also served as a guide for WRWA’s annual fish ladder open house in West Springfield. He is the son of Herbert and Jane Slater of Chilmark.

Community service noted

Bethany deBettencourt, Activities Coordinator at the Atrium at Faxon Woods in Quincy, has received a Community Service Award from MASS-AFLA, the trade association for the assisted living industry in Massachusetts. A 2006 graduate of Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School, Bethany was recognized by MASS-AFLA for creating a strong relationship between the Atrium at Faxon Woods and Father Bill’s Shelter, a homeless shelter in Quincy.

New therapist

Sheila Muldaur of Chilmark is now Certified in Classical Homeopathy (CCH). She recently became as a certified CEASE therapist — a therapy designed to support clients on the autistic spectrum and others through a program of detoxification. She also attended seminars this spring on supporting fertility through homeopathy and homeopathic psychiatry.
