New York’s Harlem Fine Arts Show came to Martha’s Vineyard for the first time last weekend. Thirty artists from national and international venues, including France and Kenya, exhibited and sold their work at Hooked Restaurant in Oak Bluffs from August 9 through 12.

“I’ve been coming here for 30 years, and we’ve never had anything like this before in the history of African-American presence on the Vineyard,” said Harvard professor and summer Island resident Henry Louis Gates Jr.
