Tisbury police are investigating a break-in Sunday night into an office building, and a series of break-ins and thefts from commercial businesses on Beach Road and State Road that occurred sometime Monday night or early Tuesday morning, Detective Mark Santon told The Times.

The thieves made off with small amounts of money from several of the businesses.

On Sunday night, thieves broke into a building containing several offices on Church Street in Vineyard Haven. Although the door to a doctor’s office was broken off its hinges, nothing was stolen.

Detective Santon declined to identify any of the businesses because he said he has not spoken with all of the owners or managers yet.

“I’ve collected evidence from eight scenes, biological and physical, and am working with a number of other businesses in the area of the break-ins that may be able to help us with security camera footage,” he said. “The investigation is in its infancy. We’re working on it and have some leads, but there have been no arrests made yet.”

Detective Santon asks that anyone that notices someone or something that looks out of place in a closed business, day or night, to call the Communications Center at 508-693-1212, and Tisbury police will respond.

Anyone who may have noticed something or has any information may also call him at 508-696-4240.

“We’ll check into it,” he said.
