Martha’s Vineyard shines at EAC track meet

The Vineyard varsity track teams performed well at the Eastern Athletic Conference meet hosted by Bishop Feehan Thursday in Attleboro. The host Shamrocks won both the girls and boys meets but the Vineyard boys took second with 96.5 points and the girls were third with 61 points.Maggie Riseborough led the girls, placing first in the discus, with a personal best throw of 110′ 5″, and the shot put (38′ 3″).Shavanae Anderson was second in the triple jump (32′ 9″) and fourth in the long jump (15′ 5″). Bailey Moreis leaped to fourth place in the triple jump (32′ 1″) and took fifth in the 200-meters (28.4).The Vineyard boys won three events. Joe Turney was first in the javelin (161′ 3″). He placed fourth in the long jump as well (18′ 6″). Jeremy Alley-Tarter won the 800-meters in 1:59.2 and joined Isaiah Maynard, Michael Schroder, and Kyle Joba-Woodruff to top the field in the 4 x 400 meter relay. Galen Mayhew was second in both the 110-meter high hurdles (18.2) and 400-meter low hurdles (62.1), while Mike Cutrer finished fourth in the discus (124′ 9″) and shot put (40′ 10″).
