Bake & bread sale
Thirty-six years ago, the pioneering members of Vineyard Committee on Hunger (VCOH) began handing out pieces of bread to people on Main Street in Vineyard Haven. This Saturday, they will have their 36th annual fundraising bread and bake sale in front of the Bunch of Grapes, from 10 am to 2 pm. If you would like to bake for the sale, drop off donations from 9 am on.
Celebration of Pets
Bring your pet to the Harbor View Hotel this Saturday, June 15, for the annual Celebration of Pets from 10 am to 12 noon sponsored by the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard. Father Nagel will bless the animals at 11 am, and there will be a special guest appearance for children. Admission is free; for more information, call Lisa Hayes at 508-627-8662.
Chicken wing, chicken wing
Coop de Ville hosts its second annual Chicken Wing Eating Contest this Saturday, June 15, from 3 to 5 pm. The Oak Bluffs harbor bar will raise money for Edgartown man Eli Bonnell, who was injured in a skiing accident this past winter. There will be live music by Drew Arcolio, and giveaways, with the event sponsored by Heineken USA and Pabst Blue Ribbon. Sign up at the bar with Garry. For more information, call 508-693-3420.
