Danny “Kootch” Kortchmar, one of the defining figures of the 1970s singer-songwriter explosion, will perform at Dreamland in Oak Bluffs on Tuesday, August 6. Mr. Kortchmar will arrive fresh off tour with James Taylor and Carole King, but that’s not the extent of his star-studded connections. The guitarist/songwriter has collaborated with David Crosby, Graham Nash, Carly Simon, Jackson Browne, Don Henley, and many others.

Mr. Kortchmar has released two solo albums, but his work is recognizable from albums such as Jackson Browne’s Running on Empty, Bob Dylan’s Shot of Love, and James Taylor’s James Taylor and the Original Flying Machine.

Paul Adler, of Kool Acts Productions, says Mr. Kortchmar is “Bringing some serious musicians to play at Dreamland.” Percussionist Rick Marotta, who Mr. Adler calls “a legend in the drumming world,” will accompany Mr. Kortchmar. Opening acts include originals by the new local band Random Thought, and new music by young local singer-songwriter Noah Stuber.

Doors open at 8 pm. Tickets are $30 and $50 for premium, and can be purchased online via dreamlandmv.com. Show is 21+.
