The Moth, the New York City-based storytelling group, returns to Martha’s Vineyard tonight, August 3, for a program titled “Fish Out of Water.”
Hear stories by Jenny Allen of The New Yorker, Bill Eville of the Vineyard Gazette, Mark Katz of The Daily Beast, longtime West Tisbury resident Shirley Mayhew, and Captain Buddy Vanderhoop of Aquinnah. In addition to stories, musician Carla Kihlstedt, a composer, violinist, and vocalist, will perform.
West Tisbury mystery writer Cynthia Riggs told the story of her late blooming romance at the Moth storytelling event on the Island last year, and the tale caught the attention of people all over the world. Ms. Riggs has since married, and a television movie about the story is in the works.
The Moth will be at the Tabernacle, at the Martha’s Vineyard Campmeeting Association in Oak Bluffs. Doors open at 7 pm tonight. Stories begin at 8 pm, and admission is $40, with tickets available at the door.
