Many of Irish descent, and many of honorary Irish descent gathered Saturday to watch a short but eventful St. Patrick’s Day parade in Edgartown.
The revelers were piped in by Tony Peak, who lead the parade up Dock Street to the Newes of America Pub.
A festive crowd, blessed with plenty of Irish sunshine and warmer temperatures, enjoyed a performance by the Pinewoods Morris Men of Boston. The dance troupe performed the traditional country dance with sticks, bells, and handkerchiefs. Parade watchers especially enjoyed a rendition of “Take me out to the ballgame.”
Also performing was the Vineyard Swordfish dance squad, who wove intricate dance patterns with decorative longswords, to the accompaniment of a lively drum and squeezebox band.
Both groups planned additional performances throughout the day.
