The Permanent Endowment Fund for Martha’s Vineyard awarded $220,000 in scholarships this year to almost 100 students, who will be presented their prizes on Friday, June 6, at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School Awards Night. This marks a $20,000 increase from scholarships given in 2013.

“The Endowment’s funds continue to grow through responsible investments and because of the generosity and vision of people who understand the enduring value of establishing endowed scholarship funds with the Permanent Endowment,” the Permanent Endowment said in a press release.

The Endowment is one of the largest providers of scholarships on Martha’s Vineyard, with half its awards supporting high school seniors entering college or students currently enrolled in college programs.

“The Endowment is the perfect place for donors interested in establishing a legacy of giving on Martha’s Vineyard,” said Permanent Endowment Board chairman Melissa McKee Hackney. “The Endowment’s Board and staff, all local and representing all walks of Vineyard life, are committed to helping each donor accomplish his or her Island-based philanthropic objectives through a variety of charitable giving options.”
