Joseph V. Massa of Stoneham died peacefully on Monday, May 19, at the Winchester Hospital. He was 88.

Born in Everett on January 17, 1926, he was the son of the late Raymond and Rose (Cersosimo) Massa.

Mr. Massa was a graduate of Everett High School. He served in the United States Army as a sergeant during World War II. Mr. Massa was president and general manager of the House of Bianchi Inc. in Boston. He was a member of the Meadow Brook Country Club in Reading and the North Conway Country Club.

Mr. Massa is survived by his wife of 70 years to Lydia A. (Manganello) Massa; his two daughters, Carole DiDomenico of Reading and Martha’s Vineyard and Donna Massa-Chappee of North Conway, New Hampshire; his four grandchildren, Jessica Pratt of Cambridge, Jennifer Dussault of Wilmington, Juliana Capillo of Middleton, and Tasha Ada Cammarata of Madrid, Spain. He is also survived by his seven great grandchildren, his nephew Raymond Massa of Montreal, Canada, and his three nieces, Alexa Brien of Montreal, Andrea Cupek of Mendon, Vermont, and Helena Deary of Manchester, Connecticut. Mr. Massa was the brother of the late fine artist Louis Massa of Montreal, Canada.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Thursday, May 22, from 5 to 8 pm. Funeral services will be private.
