Meleney Abromaitis Martin, a lifetime summer East Chop resident and winter resident of Lancaster, Penn., died at her home in Lancaster on Sept. 19, 2014, after battling brain cancer for over a year. She was 44.
A lifetime resident of the Lancaster area, Meleney was born on April 30, 1970, and graduated from Penn Manor High School in the class of 1988. She was an active member at Millersville Bible Church. She had many skills, working as a bank teller, daycare teacher, sales associate, bartender, waitress, and hostess over the course of her life. She spent many enjoyable years working at the Chameleon Club in Lancaster, and most recently worked at J.C. Penney.
Called Mel by her friends, she was an amazing artist who enjoyed painting flowers and scenes from her lifelong vacation spot of Martha’s Vineyard. She enjoyed spending time with her son Alec and husband Alan. Meleney loved to sing and listen to a wide variety of music. Her beautiful smile will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.
Meleney is survived by her loving husband Alan; son Alec; parents Joe and Betsy Abromaitis of Oak Bluffs and The Villages, Fla.; siblings James Abromaitis of Conestoga, Penn., and Grace Simpkins wife of Mike Simpkins of Falmouth.
A funeral service for Meleney will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at 1 pm at Millersville Bible Church, 1940 New Danville Pike, Lancaster, PA, with a burial service on Martha’s Vineyard at a later date.
