Dancers from RISE Vineyard Performing Arts dazzled capacity crowds at the Oak Bluffs School Sunday afternoon and evening with two performances of Season’s Greetings VI. The sixth annual holiday program had something for everyone, incorporating jazz, tap, ballet, contemporary, acrobatics, hip-hop, and creative movement styles. The students performed 18 holiday favorites, including “Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “Santa Baby,” “Little St. Nick,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “The Dreidel Song,” and the Dr. Seuss inspired a “Whoville Christmas,” starring the Grinch. Although the students earned enthusiastic applause throughout the shows, the adults may well have brought down the house with a take-off on the “Twelve Days of Christmas” called the “12 Pains of Christmas.” Pieces were choreographed by RISE director Jil Matrisciano, Tiffany Chanelle, Julie Chapnick, Michelle Delaney, Natasha Huffam, and Melissa Kanavel. All proceeds from the performances benefitted the RISE Above Access Program, an assistance fund that makes dance possible for students and families in need.
