On Saturday, April 25, from 1 to 2 pm, venture to Middletown Nursery in West Tisbury for their first vegetable gardening class of the season, “Planting and Cooking with Herbs.” The class will be led by popular food writer, cookbook author, and private chef Catherine Walthers, and Middletown’s local edibles gardener, Roxanne Kapitan. Roxanne will demonstrate how to build healthy soil with a backyard composting system, along with methods for choosing and planting perennial herbs. Cathy will demonstrate how to use fresh herbs in cooking, including a spring kale and farro salad with herb vinaigrette recipe. Classes are free to the public.
