The Martha’s Vineyard Shellfish Group will be holding its annual spring fundraiser this Saturday, May 9, from 6 to 10 pm at the Chilmark Community Center. The Shellfish Extravaganza fundraiser will feature a performance by Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish, a silent auction, two “buck a piece” raw bars, and a chowder contest. Tickets are $30 at the door, and proceeds from the event will help the Martha’s Vineyard Shellfish Group further its mission to preserve and expand the Island’s traditional shellfisheries, and improve and maintain the good surface-water quality crucial to a viable shellfish industry.
