Here is a wrap-up of the MV United games from the past weekend:

On Saturday, the U12 girls drew with Barnstable 0-0, while the U12 boys defeated Swansea Somerset 4-1. Also on Saturday, the U13 boys defeated Dartmouth 3-1. Goals were scored by Emanuel Silva (two) and Robe Della Torre, with the assists going to Jack Holmes, Morgan Estrella, and Tim Wallis. Daniel Bonneau once again played a stellar game on defense. The boys are home this Saturday for a tough match against Sandwich at 2:45.

On Sunday, the U10 boys traveled to Taunton, and won 6-0. Darien Kral started off the scoring, while Daniel Serpa scored one of his two goals to make it 2-0 at halftime. The second half was much of the same, with the Vineyard in complete control. Nikola Nikolov added two more along with C.J. Walsh’s one goal to make it a 6-0 victory. The U10 boys are now 3-0.

The MV United U18 boys also played on Sunday, and came away with an 8-0 win from a feisty Dartmouth team. Though the contest did not always resemble the beautiful game, the match crackled with intensity. The scoring started early with Jason Lages netting two goals, followed by two more from Brandon Dwane. The Vineyard’s relentless attack earned them a fifth goal quickly, followed by a goal from Andrew Ruimerman.

Amid the scoring frenzy, the Dartmouth players lashed out at several Vineyarders, earning seven yellow cards for unsporting behavior and one red card for serious foul play. The MV team was determined to play high-quality, possession-based soccer and dominate the run of play, and they did just that.

With the win on Sunday, MV U18B improves to 4-0-0, with 33 goals for and one against, placing them at the top of the standings in the South Coast Soccer League.

The team plays again on Sunday versus Fall River U19 boys, at 5 pm at Veteran’s Memorial Field in Vineyard Haven.
