Vineyard varsity tennis team remains undefeated


The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School varsity girls tennis team continued their outstanding unbeaten run with a sweep of Bishop Stang on Monday afternoon. First singles player Samantha Potter won 6-3, 6-1, second singles Kat Roberts won 6-2, 6-1, and third singles player Lizzie Williamson won 6-1, 6-1. The doubles teams were equally successful, with Charlotte Potter and Josie Iadicicco winning 6-1, 6-3. Second doubles team Amadine Muniz and Madison McBride also were victorious, scoring a 6-3, 6-4 win.

On Friday, May 8, the girls also defeated Nauset High School 4-1. First singles Samantha Potter lost to Allie Dadoly 2-6, 2-6, but that was the only loss on the day. Kat Roberts and Lizzie Williamson both won their singles matches, 6-1, 6-2, and 6-1, 6-0. Doubles pair Charlotte Potter and Josie Iadicicco won 6-3, 6-3, while the second doubles pair Amadine Muniz and Madison McBride won 6-0, 7-5.

The team is now undefeated at 11-0, having completely swept eight of their matchups. Singles players Samantha Potter and Kat Roberts, and doubles partners Charlotte Potter and Josie Iadicicco, will be playing in the single-elimination Massachusetts state tournament this Saturday at Old Rochester.
