IMP for Kids, the Island’s improvisational theater company, has announced a new high school performance troupe, the IMPosters. According to a press release, the IMPosters will perform a two-act show on Saturday, May 30, at Alex’s Place at the YMCA, featuring two types of comedy improv. The first act will consist of short-form improvised games and skits. This high-paced act includes lot of audience participation and laughs. In the second act, the troupe will take the stage to perform their Chicago-style, theatrical-based long-form improv. Based on a single suggestion, the troupe improvises a one-act half-hour play. Using the structure of a teen soap opera set in a fictional high school of the audience’s choosing, this piece is sure to delight anyone who is or has ever been in high school.
The IMPosters are a professional improv troupe who have made a commitment to train as individuals and as an ensemble, to provide quality comedy improv to the Island and beyond. The new troupe’s actors include Eva Wilson, Penelope Dutton, Samantha Cassidy, Jake Baird, and Harold Lawry. The troupe is directed by Donna Swift.
