At the Edgartown Bridge Club on Monday June 22, 11 tables were in play. Finishing first North-South were Sandy and Michael Lindheimer, followed by Eric Stricoff and Rhonda Cohen in second, Cathy Minkiewicz and Steve Allen in third, and Jane Haley and Lee Kleinman in fourth. Finishing in a tie for first in the East-West direction were Jim Kaplan and Robert Levey, and Corie Lanning and Margaret Hanneman. Third place went to Pat Devaney and Barbara Piggot. Tied for fourth place were Molly Mattoon, partnered with Judy Cronig, and Sari Lipkin, partnered with Carol Whitmarsh. The Edgartown Bridge Club is now holding its Monday-afternoon games at the Tisbury Senior Center. Game time is 1 pm.
At the Martha’s Vineyard Bridge Club in Vineyard Haven on Tuesday, June 23, seven tables were in play. Finishing first in the North-South direction were Sari Lipkin and Carol Whitmarsh, followed by Dave Donald and Michel Riel in second place. Tied for third place were Sandy Lindheimer, partnered with Barbara Besse, and Cheryl Neal, partnered with Dotti Arnold. In the East-West direction, first place went to Mollie Whalen and Joe Ashcroft, followed by Barbara McLagen and Rich Alpert in second, and Jim Kaplan and Miles Jaffe in third.
At the Island Bridge Club in West Tisbury on Thursday, June 25, eight tables were in play. In the North-South direction, Audrey Egger and Bob Levey finished first, followed by Ken Judson and John O’Keefe in second and Sandy and Michael Lindheimer in third. Finishing in a tie for first place in the East-West direction were Dave Donald with Rich Colter, and Foster Osborn with Lou Winkelman. Tied for third place were Dave Donald, partnered with Rich Colter, and Rich Peia, partnered with Brooks Robards. Game time is 7 pm at Howes House.
At the Bridge Club of Martha’s Vineyard on Saturday, June 27, seven tables were in play. Finishing in first place in the North-South direction were Dotti Arnold and Cheryl Neal, followed by Duncan Walton and Richard Eubanks in second, and Tillie Foster and Emily Robertson in third. In the East-West direction, Brooks Robards and Jim Kaplan finished first, followed by Adriana Stadecker and Charity Randolph in second, and Stan Dawkins and Abe Seimen in third. A game will be held on July 4th at the Tisbury Senior Center; coffee and doughnuts starting at 9 am. Game begins promptly at 9:30.
Representing Martha’s Vineyard at the Nashua regional tournament were Mollie Whalen, Joe Ashcroft, Eric Stricoff, and Rhonda Cohen. Playing team events, they finished second one day and fourth on another day. But a fine time was had by all.
