At the Edgartown Bridge Club on Monday, August 17, nine tables were in play for a club championship. Finishing first overall were Judy Cronig and Molly Mattoon. Tied for second and third overall were Kay Kendall and Iris Capobianco, and Duncan Walton and Richard Eubanks. Fourth place overall went to Bea Phear and Sue Collinson, followed by Sandy and Michael Lindheimer in fifth place. Also placing in the North-South direction were Eric Stricoff and Rhonda Cohen. Third place in the East-West position went to Jason Grove and Peter Buchthal, followed by Cathy Minkiewicz and Steve Allen in fourth.
At the Martha’s Vineyard Bridge Club in Vineyard Haven on Tuesday, August 18, ten pairs competed. Finishing first overall were Dave Donald and Rich Colter, followed by Andy Jacknain and John O’Keefe in second, Don Nelson and Anita Persson in third, and Sandy Lindheimer and Barbara Besse in fourth.
At the Island Bridge Club in West Tisbury on Thursday August 20, six tables were in play. In the North-South direction, Andy Jacknain and John O’Keefe finished first, followed by Bea Phear and Barbara Silk in second. In the East-West direction, Sue Collinson and Pamela Furtsch finished first, followed by Carol Whitmarsh and Sari Lipkin in second.
At the Bridge Club of Martha’s Vineyard on Saturday, August 22, eight tables were in play. Finishing in first place in the North-South direction were Storey Osborne and Don Nelson, followed by Joan Perrine and Patsy McCornack in second, and Ann Brown and Duncan Walton in third. In the East-West direction, Brooks Robards and Jim Kaplan finished first, followed by Susan Sadler and Sally Fitzgerald in second, and Iris Capobianco and Kay Kendall in third place.
