Native Islander and graduate of Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School Dawn Breeze returns to the Vineyard to offer a one-day workshop and art exhibit. Ms. Breeze will be leading a Creativity + Courage workshop as well as sharing a display of recent artworks created on another island — Iceland.

According to a press release, Ms. Breeze designed Creativity + Courage in 2011 as an expressive arts program for individuals in recovery. Ms. Breeze quickly realized the content was applicable to all people, of all ages, in pursuit of developing their unique creative voice. Since then, Ms. Breeze has successfully been leading her workshops throughout New England and New York for individuals, institutions, and corporations, including the global e-commerce company Etsy.

In part funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the Vineyard workshop is scheduled for Sept. 5, from 2 to 5 pm at the Tashmoo Waterworks Building.

Previous workshop student Heather Jassy, senior vice president at Etsy, has said, “What’s so incredible is that despite having experienced her workshops so many times, I’m still learning and finding value. I’ve witnessed remarkable results and breakthroughs in people who are going through Dawn’s course together: deep connection with one another, a shift from overthinking to more intuitive decision making, an ability to think in deeply creative ways and see new solutions. I cannot overstate how valuable her work is, and how much Dawn has impacted the work that my team is doing at Etsy.”

Following the workshop, Breeze will be sharing select pieces of new artworks created this summer during an artist residency at BAER Art Center in Iceland. The exhibit, “Eylenda,” demonstrates Ms. Breeze’s continual fascination with interwoven connections of thought, time, place, transformation, and materials as subject. The work includes photography, sound, handmade objects, and text. The reception for the exhibit is from 6 to 8 pm on Sept. 5, also at the Tashmoo Waterworks Building.

“Creativity + Courage” workshop, $75 including materials, limited scholarship opportunities available. The workshop is limited to 10 participants. All are welcome; no previous artistic experience is necessary. For more information, contact or 917-622-5141, or visit
