The Edgartown Bridge Club was closed for Labor Day on Sept. 7.
At the Martha’s Vineyard Bridge Club in Vineyard Haven on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 12 pairs competed the second International Fund game of the month. Proceeds from the International Fund games are used to support player participation in world-championship events. Finishing first overall were Jim Kaplan and Miles Jaffe, followed by Barbara Besse and Sandy Lindheimer in second, Storey Osborne and Michael Lindheimer in third, Eric Stricoff and Bob Levey in fourth, and Michel Riel and Dave Donald in fifth.
At the Island Bridge Club in West Tisbury on Thursday, Sept. 10, 14 pairs competed in a club championship game. Finishing in first place overall were Al Shrive and Rich Alpert, followed by Sandy and Michael Lindheimer in second, Barbara Besse and Miles Jaffe in third, Barbara Silk and Bea Phear in fourth, and Dave Donald and Rich Colter in fifth.
At the Bridge Club of Martha’s Vineyard on Saturday, Sept. 12, seven tables were in play. Finishing in first place in the North-South direction were Cheryl Neal and Dottie Arnold, followed by Susan Goodridge and Judith Spruance in second, and Paul Howes and Art Spielvogel in third. In the East-West direction, there was a three-way tie for first and third places:
Brooks Robards and Jim Kaplan, Trudy Ulmer and Barbara Alleyne, and Colleen Morris and Clara J. Hargrave. This is the final game for the club until next season.
