The second annual industrial art event Iron on the Island will take place on Saturday, Sept. 26, at Featherstone Center for the Arts. From noon to 5 pm, participants can create their own cast-iron artwork from recycled Island materials including sinks, bathtubs, and radiators. The resulting metal will be poured into the molds from 6 to 9 pm, to produce new iron objects of your choice. Carve a scratch block for $30 or a scratch bowl for $50. Templates available for purchase; no artistic experience necessary. Participants can pick up their artwork on Sunday, Sept. 27, from 1 to 4 pm. For more information, contact Featherstone at 508-693-1850, or visit featherstoneart.org.
