It’s a special week at the Tisbury School where students are participating in events that promote the spirit of giving and helping others, in an effort to recognize the individuals, organizations, and businesses that support the school.
All the events are to benefit the Red Stocking Fund, an Island charity organization that helps families in need during the holiday season. Last year, the school donated nearly $3,000 to the fund. This year, all K-8 homerooms are collecting donations each school day between Dec. 14 and Dec. 18, with each day representing a different “coin theme” and “wear red” theme.
Additionally, students are presenting a special announcement to the school about the importance of giving and helping others on the student-run television program, “Tiger Talk,” each morning.
On Tuesday, students made snowflakes they used to decorate various buildings around the town.
“The Tisbury School maintains a longstanding tradition of teaching students the importance of working together to help others,” principal John Custer said in a press release. “We believe that ‘Tigers Give!’ week will strengthen this commitment.”
