Jared E.A. Fisher, a lifelong resident of Edgartown who loved the ocean and all the pleasures it brought him, died at his home on August 6 of natural causes. He was 31.
Jared, the son of Francis (Sandy) and Lori (Robinson) Fisher of Edgartown, was born at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital on August 11,1983.
He attended the Edgartown Elementary School and Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School. He played football in both schools, until a broken foot during a scrimmage in his freshman year ended his football season.
Jared had a great love for the ocean. Following in the footsteps of many generations of grandfathers, parents, and siblings, at the young age of 4, he learned to fish, shellfish, and run a Bobcat, which he continued to do through his entire life.
Jared loved working with his dad, operating the Bobcat, fishing, and shellfishing — he was a master of all. He loved spending time with family and playing with his nieces and nephews, teaching them the tricks of the fishing trade, and spending time with his son Arthur.
Jared had such a big heart. When he saw someone in need, he would help them with a gift of money, food, and words of hope. He would light up a room with his great smile and personality. He loved pulling pranks on his family and friends.
He had a great love for fast cars; his pride and joy were his Malibu and Nova, and he was known as “the Burnout King.” Few knew Jared had a beautiful operatic voice, and only a very few were lucky enough to hear him sing.
Jared married his love, Sherry Lee Fisher, on March 27, 2015, in a beautiful ceremony at the Harbor View Hotel. He was very happy and proud to become a stepfather to her three children.
Jared is missed and loved by so many friends and family.
Jared was welcomed in heaven by his infant brother Terrance, his maternal grandparents Albert and Louise Robinson, his paternal grandparents Francis and Julianne Fisher, his aunt Teresa Robinson and cousin Christian Manley. Along with his wife and parents, Jared is survived by his three stepchildren, Arthur, Robbie, and Savannah; his brother Francis (Sandy) Fisher, sisters Angela and Leanna Fisher, all of Edgartown; nieces and nephews Cameron Maciel, Tayla BenDavid, Shilah and Jax Trott, and Cuyler and Christian Fisher, all of Edgartown; his aunts and uncles, Albert and Beverly Robinson, Debbie and John Smith of Oak Bluffs; Rhonda Fauteux and Tony Bettencourt of Edgartown; Clifton and Jennifer Robinson of Oak Bluffs; Madeline Fisher of Edgartown; Julie Fisher of Edgartown, and Louise and Jon Fragosa of West Tisbury.
Jared’s visiting hours were at his parents’ home, with his friends and family, on August 14. A graveside service was held on August 15 at the New Westside Cemetery in Edgartown, where he was laid to rest beside his brother Terrance. Donations in his memory may be made to the Martha’s Vineyard Boys and Girls Club, P.O. Box 654, Edgartown, MA 02539, and/or the Islanders Talk Benevolent Fund, P.O.
