Airport Fitness and Tennis hosted its annual tennis championships for members last weekend. Laura Schroeder and Mary Breslauer won the women’s doubles tournament. They beat Jen Combra and Maya Moran 6-3, 6-2. Laura and Mary earned their spot in the finals by taking Michelle Bettencourt and Jeanne Holenko 6-4, 7-5 in the semis. Jen Combra and Maya Moran won their first round in a tiebreaker over Lynn Blake and Susie Safford 3-6, 6-1, 10-5. They pulled out a second tiebreaker against Beth Sawyer and Paula Rego to take the semifinal match 7-6, 4-6, 10-4.
Darren Belisle and Iain Macleod won the men’s doubles championship. They beat Paul Ulyatt and Skip Dostal 6-3, 6-1. Darren and Iain earned their spot in the finals over Shawn Schofield and George Ikonomou. They entered the semifinals by beating Brooks Billingham and Kye Howell 6-1, 6-1.
