Update 9/19

A Freightliner dump truck smashed into the back of a Dodge Caravan near Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School early Monday evening, severely damaging the minivan and puncturing the radiator of the dump truck, Oak Bluffs Police Lt. Tim Williamson told The Times.

Both Linycker DeSouza, driver of the minivan, and Alec Flynn, driver of the dump truck, refused medical treatment at the scene, he said, adding both drivers were from Edgartown and both vehicles had to be towed away.

The minivan was attempting to take a left into the high school lot when the dump truck rear-ended it, Lt. Williamson said. Mr. Flynn was not cited but appeared at fault, Lt. Williamson said. The dump truck bore “Bilzerian Tree” on the door and appeared to be pulling a utility trailer at the time of the crash.

The accident created a traffic snarl on Edgartown–Vineyard Haven Road.
