Made on MVY: Island Beach Beads

Artist Elizabeth Williams makes jewelry right on the beach.

Island Beach Beads began when Elizabeth Williams began making jewelry for herself, the kind she enjoyed and couldn’t find anywhere else. Then she discovered that other people enjoyed what she made as well. The name of her business was inspired by the time she was watching her children play in the water on their body boards while she did her creating. And she really does make most of her creations right on the beach, whether on Martha’s Vineyard, North Carolina or Hawaii.  Everything she makes is one-of-a-kind, “just like all of us”!  She uses silver, lots of beads, and pearl, sea glass and shells, and even papier mache-like materials. Elizabeth knits and crochets much of her work.

Island Beach Beads can be purchased at the Vineyard Holiday Gift Shop at Island Copper from Nov. 17 to Dec. 24.
