Artist M-C Lamarre washed ashore on Martha’s Vineyard two years ago. For the past 14 years, the full-time artist found a unique niche as a muralist, reproducing the likeness of Fenway Park’s iconic Green Monster for Red Sox Nation. She painted over 190 Green Monster murals, in 23 states and Canada, and left hundreds of other murals in her wake in both commercial and residential spaces. She earned her degree from Providence College in ceramics, and is trained as a potter. Always exploring new mediums, M-C has a knack for cleverly recreating or repurposing objects with an element of whimsy and functionality for your home. With her love of “upcycling,” she began salvaging weathered shingles and using them as a canvas to hand-paint Vineyard-inspired oceanscapes. She also creates handmade journals using the Island-salvaged shingles as book covers. The hand-sewn books make great guest books, journals, or sketchbooks. Her studio has a collection of the shingle work, accompanied by all sorts of whimsically reimagined repurposed treasures.
M-C’s hand-painted shingles can be found at CraftWorks in Oak Bluffs, and at the Holiday Gift Shop at Island Copper in Vineyard Haven.
