MV United U-16 boys get even, hand Dartmouth first loss in rematch

The Martha’s Vineyard United Under-16 boys soccer team bounced back from its first loss of the season last weekend in Dartmouth, by returning the favor in a thrilling 4-3 win over previously unbeaten Dartmouth FC, Sunday at Veterans Park in Vineyard Haven. Jacob Maccaferri, JoJo Bonneau, Tim Wallis, and Moushe Oliveira scored for MVU. The U-16s are currently in second place at 5-1-0, and will travel to Nantucket and Fall River to close out the regular season.

In other MV United action, the U-11 girls improved to 6-1-0 on the season, and took over sole possession of second place with a 10-1 romp in the rain over visiting Oceana SC on Saturday. Izzy Blake and Delilah Oliver both had hat tricks. Annabelle Metell added two goals, while Jane Coogan and Sophie Arroyo had a goal apiece. Metell, Oliver, Audrey Heidt, and Emily MacMillan shared the goalkeeping duties.

Rounding out the busy weekend, the U-15 boys defeated Oceana SC, 10-1; the U-13 boys downed Seekonk, 5-1; the U-12 boys edged Freetown Lakeville United, 3-2; the U-11 boys fell to Berkley Athletic, 7-2; the U-12 girls drew with Dartmouth FC, 0-0; and the U-18 girls lost a pair of matches, 4-0 to Falmouth, and 4-1 to Dartmouth FC.
