On Monday morning, the Steamship Authority crew aboard the MV Nantucket, on its 8:15 am run from Woods Hole to Vineyard Haven, performed a rescue boat drill.

Steamship Authority general manager Robert Davis wrote in an email that drills like the one performed Monday are required once every quarter by the U.S. Coast Guard.

“The crews may also perform additional drills to maintain proficiency with current industry standards, which may or may not be under USCG observation,” he wrote.
