Update 9 am

The Island Home, after missing two morning crossings due to mechanical issues, has been cleared to resume service, Steamship Authority spokesman Sean Driscoll wrote in a text.

Just in time for the Monday morning commute, the Island Home missed its 6 am crossing from Woods Hole to the Vineyard and then its 7 am from Vineyard Haven to Woods Hole due to an electrical issue, Driscoll said..

The 8:15 am did not leave on time and many of the commuters who typically take that ferry boarded the MV Woods Hole instead.

Driscoll wrote that vehicles booked on the 8:15 are now boarding.

  1. In a related note, the SSA would like to report the Island Home is steaming across to India, to be cut up for scrap steel, issuing an apology to Islanders that they ever inflicted this ship on us in the first place.
Oops sorry, getting a little ahead of myself.
