The Martha’s Vineyard Ice Arena is under a new management agreement with the YMCA.
YMCA director of operations Nina Kiendzior told The Times the YMCA will be working with its staff to provide administrative and managerial support to the ice arena; aside from that, it’s business as usual.
“The ice arena is its own entity, we’ve just been helping manage operations with payroll and bills and the employees and staff,” she said.
There will be no changes to the fees, schedule, or the way the rink is operated, according to Kiendzior.
The YMCA and the Ice Arena have been working together as community partners for years. Talks about the agreement began last year when ice arena management approached the YMCA.
The arena held a grand reopening at the beginning of the year after a $4.2 million expansion.
